Reflecting on Learning

My most passionate hope for my future while working with young children and their families is that every child be afforded the opportunity to receive high quality education, regardless of race, gender, economic class, language, culture, religion, etc. And also to continue to make every effort to create an anti-bias setting that is rich in possibilities for exploring cultural diversity.

Thank you colleagues for sharing you most inner thoughts, hopes and dreams. The knowledge and information I've gained from each of your experiences has truly been an inspiration.  Over the course of the last several months I've cultivated friendships beyond the classroom and I look forward to continuing those friendships and collaborating with those of you in the near future.

  1. Hi Sandra,
The hopes that you have for your future of working with children are very inspiring. I found it so refreshing that although we are all educators and we have been working together in this class, our hopes and dreams for education are all different from each other. It has been enlightening for me to learn from you and all of my colleagues. It has been great to gain some new perspectives and experiences from everyone.

    Great job,
    Jamie

  3. Hello,
Thank you for all your discussions and feedback these past 8 weeks, it has been a great journey. I would also like to add that I also hope for all children to get the education they deserve regardless of their race, gender, economic class, language, culture, and religion. If we work together as anti- biased educators, we will strengthen our skills in the early childhood field and therefore lead a diverse and equitable program (Derman - Sparks & Edwards Olsen, 2010). “Taking part in anti- bias and other forms of diversity/ equity work with colleagues not only contributes to advancing early childhood work as a whole, but it also expands our own understanding and helps us to feel linked to a broader network of people” (Derman - Sparks & Edwards Olsen, 2010, p. 158).
